Terms of use

Last updated 30 September 2026

Ownotes is run by Morten Kjaerulff. By creating an account you agree to these terms. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your data.

Who can join

Ownotes is for students aged 13 or over. Joining is by invite, and each invite link works once. One account per person, and keep your password to yourself.

Your writing is yours

You own what you write. We use it only to run Ownotes for you, and never to train AI.

Fair use

Don’t use Ownotes to break the law, harass anyone, or attack or overload the service. If you do, we may close your account.

A free test

Ownotes is free and still being built, so features will change. It’s provided as it is. We’ll give at least 14 days’ notice by email before these terms change, and at least 30 days’ notice before Ownotes closes. Nothing here limits your rights as a consumer.

Leaving

You can leave any time. Email ownotesadmin@gmail.com from your account’s address and we’ll delete your account and everything in it within 30 days.
